P-ADL Events Registration

MM Workshop Series

November 30, 2006

Please join us in a first ever opportunity to participate in a structured user testing of UCF’s new learning object system and game creation system scheduled for Thursday, November 30. This great event is free of charge for those who will commit to attending. You will also be able to use these systems throughout the spring 2007 semester.

This event is from 10:00am-4:00pm. Lunch will not be provided, however, there will be ample time to travel to a nearby eatery and return prior to the start of the afternoon session. The lunch break is from 12:00pm-2:00pm.

This all day event begins with a live demo of UCF's next generation game management system, GameServ. Following the demo, you will be among the first few to create your very own web-based casual game using GameServ. Games produced can be incorporated into the afternoon learning objects session. To be able to end with an instructional game ready to be incorporated in an existing online course, participants may bring in pre-made quiz questions in electronic format (i.e., Word/text file). (Please Note: If you do not have pre-made quiz questions, sample questions will be provided for you to use during the event.)

After lunch please join us for a live demo and an opportunity to create learning objects using UCF’s learning object system. We will start by sharing our model for the creation of learning objects. Then, participants will create their own learning object during the remainder of the event. Participants who created games will be able to incorporate these games in their learning object.

To be able to end the all day event with a learning object ready to be added in an existing online course, participants should bring in electronic format the following: Pre-made quiz questions (True/False, multiple choice and fill-in the-blank preferred) in a Word or TXT file and instructional content (such as modules or lessons and media files previously created) for the learning object they will make in the hands-on lab. This content should be detailed enough to instruct a student on a specific concept or skill in no more than 15 minutes. Images (.jpg, .png, or .gif) and audio (.mp3 only) may also be included in the content. (Please Note: If you do not have pre-made quiz questions or instructional media content, sample questions and media will be provided for you to use during the event.)

To participate please send an e-mail to p-adl@mail.ucf.edu with the subject line November Event or leave a voicemail message by calling 407-823-6626. Please include your name, preferred e-mail address, and preferred phone number with either option. The last day to sign up for this event is November 23, 2006. This all day event is free! Do not miss your chance to be part of this great opportunity to become a member of a cohort group of faculty who will have exclusive access to these systems throughout the spring 2007 semester.

P-ADL is located in the Partnership II building in the Central Florida Research Park (See Map). For more information, contact Dr. Kelvin Thompson at kthompso@mail.ucf.edu or 407-823-0462.
